TCB Bury Is Now Open For Business

On Monday 28th November we were hugely excited to open the doors to customers at TCB BURY, for the first time since the restaurant was damaged by fire in 2019.

The restaurant saw excited customers queuing outside when the doors opened at 5pm and staff and robots were run off their feet (and wheels!) all evening as the first service in the new restaurant went down a storm!

The restaurant has been refurbished specifically to operate with robot waiters, or Bellabots as we call them and other models Holabot and Kettybot, supplied by Hutech Robotics Ltd also support the teamdelivering food and collecting used crockery and glasses.

It seems a long time since the restaurant was last open to customers and back then was know as THE Chinese Buffet but after the fire, there were a number of legal issues delaying progress and of course the little issue of the pandemic further causing delays to the refurbishment.

Because of the restrictive practices put in place by the government during the pandemic, when customers in restaurants had to remain seated, the buffet style service was temporarily replaced by what we called a ‘table buffet service’, meaning that customers ordered food via an app specifically developed by TCB and tapas size portions were delivered directly to the table, allowing customers to remain seated at all times, conforming with government directives.

Our customers quickly told us that they preferred the new system, urging us to adopt it permanently, after which we introduced Bellabot the robot waiter to support our front-of-house teams with the delivery of what was becoming a huge number of dishes, averaging around 20 per customer, a massive increase in physical labour from before the pandemic.

Now all our restaurants operate with a minimum of two robots and some three but with TCB Bury now operating five robots, currently a mixture of three bellabots, one Kettybot and One Holabot.

For those who haven’t been to the restaurant since before the pandemic, there is a big change in our service, with customers ordering an unlimited number of dishes, three at a time, from our app downloaded to their phones, with food and drinks usually being delivered to their tables by the robot waiters.

If you’re thinking of coming along to TCB Bury, we’re open every weekday for lunch 12-3pm and Saturdays 12-4pm, with evening service from 5-10pm and 10.30pm Friday and Saturday. Sundays it’s Family Dining between 12-9.30pm, so why not book a table and come and see what all the fuss is about.

The easiest way to book is via the TCB App, available from The App Store and Google Play and by using the app customers can a crew loyalty points which can be redeemed, just like cash against meals and drinks in the restaurant.
