Schools Enjoy Cultural Experience At TCB Chinese New Year

We loved welcoming lots of pupils from local schools over the period of Chinese New year, when we opened our doors to offer a real cultural experience, in response to an initial enquiry to bring a group of children to TCB Unlimited Dining.

Our staff went to town to make everyone welcome and demonstrate real Chinese hospitality to groups of children, aged from 2 to 10 years old.

Groups of children from many local schools visited our restaurants in Bury, Bolton, Wigan and St Helens, enjoying a selection of traditional Chinese New Year tasters.

 

One of our team members told the children all about New Year traditions and explaining that each year is symbolised by a different animal and that 2023 is the year of The Rabbit in the Chinese Lunar calendar, explaining that this year is predicted to be a year of hope, as in Chinese culture, the rabbit is the symbol of longevity, peace and prosperity.

 

Schools Received Certificates

All the children received a goody bag containing mementos of their visit including a colouring sheet showing the animals symbolising different years.

The schools also received a certificate to recognise the visit, bearing the school name written in Chinese.

The teacher accompanying children from one Chorley school said…

“We visited the Wigan Restaurant on Friday 20th January for the taster session.

The children had an amazing time and from the moment we arrived we felt welcome in the restaurant and very well looked after.

We brought a group of Special Educational Needs students with conditions ranging from ADHD and Autism so this was a very stressful visit for both staff and children alike.

The way we were treated was first class and the students were all very well behaved as we felt included in the restaurant by staff.

The lady who gave the children their talk about Chinese New year and the robots was so sweet and understanding and engaged with the children at all times. We would very much like to thank her also.

The food that all the children and staff received was excellent and such great value. We returned to school very happy and grateful for such a successful visit when it could quite easily have been a very difficult outing.”

And another teacher from a school in St Helens said…

“We had a great time. The children didn’t stop talking about it for weeks. It was a lovely experience and one I hope they remember forever.

The staff were lovely and so helpful, it was really organised. We have already started planning our visit next year with the hope to visit earlier in the day to complete activities and finish with the food.”

It was clear from our Chinese New Year Cultural Experience Visits this year that both TCB staff and the schools alike really enjoyed themselves and got great value from the visits.
